Artist Statement:

The work featured in the show is compiled of photographs taken with LEGO mini-figures. The term ‘LEGO’ is derived from the Danish words ‘LEG-GODT’ roughly translating to ‘Play well’ Even though I have fallen out of playing with LEGO long ago. That sense of imagination that comes with building LEGO has never ceased. Most of my other work consists of nature, landscape, and found objects. I didn’t discover toy photography until I found a professional wrestler who photographs action figures as a hobby. At this point, I was back into LEGO but as a collector. I didn’t think about combining the two. I started taking LEGO photos as something different and not taken seriously. However, the reception to the photos have been amazing. Taking these photos has brought out a new creative side to my photography. I love doing toy photography because even though they are an inch tall, they carry a lot of personality.

Artist Bio:

Eli Foote is a fine art photographer from Endicott New York. He has graduated from SUNY Broome with an Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications and would transfer to Rochester Institute of Technology and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Photography.

Eli’s work consists of nature, wildlife, found space, and found object photography. He has lived in Upstate New York his whole life. Eli likes to travel when he can in his free time. Of course, he brings his camera with him and perhaps a few small friends along the way. Eli’s interest in photography started in high school while taking pictures of birds in snow storms. Being able to capture so much action in a fraction of a second is what drove him to take photography classes and pursue a career in photography.
