Business of Art Workshops Student Series: Making Photograms
Students will learn the principles of photographic development and composition by making photograms—the art of producing images by placing objects on photosensitive paper. Binghamton Photo, Broome County’s only community darkroom space and photo lab, director and SUNY Broome Photography instructor Tara Monaco will show students how to print images of found objects on photo paper using enlargers and safe solutions. In the process of becoming acquainted with the darkroom, students will learn the chemistry behind photo development and about positive and negative.
Workshop takes place at Binghamton Photo, 32 Cedar St., Binghamton.

Business of Art Workshops: Student Series are free for Broome County Arts Council Student & Family Members and $15 for the general public.

Business of Art Workshops Student Series: Chalk Art
Eric Maruscak is an internationally known artist who has appeared across the country making live chalk murals in front of tens of thousands at giant events like the San Diego Comic Con, the New York Comic Con, the International Toy Fair, and for companies like Lucasfilm and Nintendo. Join Eric for an afternoon of fun as he teaches the basics behind working with chalk pastels, drawing giant-sized imagery, and dealing with outdoor conditions. Be prepared to get a little chalky as Eric shows you some of his materials, and you’ll work with chalk pastels on your own pavement art. The class starts with a brief demonstration by Eric, but quickly he will have you coloring and sketching on your own work. You’ll be amazed how fast two hours can fly by. Either have an image you already want to create (don’t make it too complex) or we can sketch on the fly to create an outline you can color.
Workshop takes place at the Bundy Museum of History and Art, 129 Main St, Binghamton.
