Artist Statement:
Shedding new light on old buildings. Breathing new life into disused architecture. Stretching time and light to highlight the often overlooked beauty in the mundane and utilitarian. Giving a new perspective on what is overlooked every day. There is power in the darkness.
With the use of my Nikon Z50 mirrorless digital camera, 8mm wide angle lens, and 16-50mm zoom lens, very long exposures lasting anywhere from just a fraction over a second all the way up to 10/20 seconds, allows me to capture the low levels of light provided to me in the nightscape of Binghamton after the sun sets. The long exposures give an opportunity to view passing cars in a way that most people don’t get to see.
I'm hoping to show you a new way of looking at your surroundings as you walk about the town so that you may find the power and the beauty in the darkness.
